Design Guide
With a Spiral Cellars solution, you get the opportunity to design your cellar so that it suits you and your interior decor.
With a choice of three models, five depths, nine trap doors, different light packages and countless more step treads, you get the opportunity to put together a solution that suits your particular project and your taste.
With a Spiral Cellar , you don't use your living space for storage and it is of course entirely up to you whether you want your cellar to be a 'show-piece' in the interior with a view of the collection through one of our elegant Glass trap doors, or whether you want your wine cellar to be your own secret, discreet and camouflaged with a Trap door that matches the surrounding floor.
All it requires is that you have access to the ground under your home. Read about the options below and our tips on what to consider in your choices.
Models
Spiral Cellar comes in its classic design in two models: Concrete Grey and White, where the module fronts of the latter are filled and painted. We call them model Original and model White.
-
Model Original is, as the title describes, the original version, originally developed in France and has the rustic look of concrete, whereas White Spiral Cellar has a more clean and elegant look.
-
has a larger diameter. This results in slightly wider steps and deeper shelves where the bottleneck on a regular bottle size is inside the shelf edge. We have highlighted this and other differences in the video below.
-
is new to our range. It has the same size as model White and is also cast in white concrete. It can be built in the classic way as the other two models, but has the feature that one or more shelves can be turned to achieve double shelf height and thus have room to store more than just horizontal wine bottles, e.g. upright liquor bottles or anything else that requires more height than the classic wine shelves.
Tip: Think of the wine cellar as a decor element that should fit with your overall style. Should the cellar go with something sleek and minimalist or authentic and rustic?
If you choose a semi-circular or rectangular Trap door, you should be aware that the part of the cellar that has a ceiling above it will reduce the ceiling height by 25cm. If you are a tall person, we recommend a cellar that is at least 2.25m deep so that you have sufficient headroom in the cellar.
In the video we explain the differences between model White and Original
Door types
We have several options when it comes to this trap doors .
A glass hatch gives you a nice view of your Cellar and its contents and are available as rectangular, semicircular and round.
If you would rather camouflage your wine collection, we offer hatches for different types of covering, so that it is integrated with the surrounding floor. All integrated hatches are rectangular.
A rectangular one Trap door measures 90x150cm and a round glass hatch has a diameter of 146 and 158.4 cm for model Original and White. A half round has the same diameter as the round Trap door , with a radius of approx. 90 cm.
Tip: The size of the hatch is the area that must be free on the floor to easily operate the hatch. Therefore, consider the location in relation to your room furnishings. You can easily occasionally furnish over the hatch, e.g. if you need the floor space to accommodate many people.
Lighting
A Spiral Cellar has the advantage of offering your wines darkness, which is a must in good wine storage. But of course, you need to be able to illuminate your cellar to be able to navigate it and separate the good bottles from each other. If you purchase a lighting package from us, we will take care of installing the light while the cellar is being built, so the cabling is hidden and the solution is elegant to look at.
Tip: If you choose a solution with a glass trap door, you can think of your wine cellar as a beautiful light source in the floor that helps to brighten up the room.
Treads for the steps and bottom
Treads are an option for the models White and Spirit Spiral Cellar.
We have hand-picked exclusive tread for you and if you order them together with the cellar, we will install tread for you to finish the work on your cellar. If you decide later, they are delivered to you with tape on the back so you can easily install them yourself.
To the bottom of the cellar Can you to model Spirit choose one tread consists of 13 pcs. inlaid as petals. For model White, the solution is a mat made of two large pieces of leather, where the joint is placed under the stairs so that from above it looks like one large piece. For the bottom of model White, only leather is offered, where we for model Spirit can offer all the types of treads that we offer for the steps.
Tip: If you choose a glass door for your wine cellar, consider the material and color of the step treads in the overall colour palette of your decor. It can be a color that is repeated in a painting on the wall near the wine cellar, some colour tones in the stone on your kitchen countertop or other elements in your interior design that should work beautifully together.
Accessories
There are various accessories available for your Spiral Cellar. Some accessories are designed exclusively for a specific model of Spiral Cellars, as you will see in the description of each one. Some are designed for the wine enthusiast to organize the cellar in the best possible way and others are for those who want to store more than just wine in the cellar.
Tip. If you know which accessories you would like to purchase, it is a good idea to order these together with the cellar, as delivery and installation will be included, but if you decide later, it is still possible to purchase accessories at a later date.
